I see a lot of this in my hobby — tabletop gaming. But also in other forms of gaming. Enjoying a game? Why not hop onto Twitch and livestream it? Don’t forget the journey to affiliate, don’t forget a tip jar, don’t forget a Patreon…
I know the difference between doing enjoyable things for myself, and doing them for ‘the audience’, and for now that difference is clear to me. But you’re right in that eventually that difference will start to erode as the novelty of having an audience becomes a necessity, and soon fun is diminished without one.
